Napoli is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world since the Neolithic period. It lies between two volcanic regions: Mount Vesuvius and the Campi Flegrei and on the Gulf of Napoli. The main city square is the Piazza del Plebiscito and it is well known for the ancient castel known as Maschio Angioino.

The Pontifical Shrine of the Blessed Virgin of the Rosary of Pompei is a Roman Catholic cathedral and a Marian pontifical shrine. The painting of "Our Lady of the Rosary" depicts the Virgin Mary and Child Jesus presenting rosaries to Saint Dominic and Saint Catherine of Siena.
