AGRIGENTO

Valley of the Temples

It is an archaeological site included in the UNESCO Heritage Site list. The Valley includes remains of seven temples, all in Doric style. It is one of the most outstanding examples of Greater Greece art and architecture.

ERICE

It is located on top of Mount Erice, at around 750 metres, overlooking the city of Trapani. It was founded by Phoenicians. There are two castles that remain in the city: Pepoli Castle, which dates from Saracen times, and the Venus Castle, dating from the Norman period.

LIPARI

It is the largest island of the Aeolian volcanic archipelago in the Tyrrhenian Sea. Once it was known as the Trade Centre of Obsidian and today as the main Centre for Pumice stone.

SAN CATALDO

Views

It is a municipality in the Province of Caltanissetta. It rises over an internal hilly area, 625 meters above the sea-level. Its name refers to the inhabitants' strong devotion towards the homonymous saint, specifically the town's patron saint, who was an Irish bishop who died during his pilgrimage towards the Holy Land.

TAORMINA

Greek theatre

It is an ancient Greek theatre built early in the seventh century BC. It is one of the most celebrated ruins in Sicily, on account both of its remarkable preservation and of the surpassing beauty of its situation.

TRAPANI

View

It is a city founded by Elymians. It is an important fishing port and the main gateway to the nearby Egadi Islands. It has developed over time a flourishing economic activity linked to the extraction and sale of salt, taking advantage of its natural position, projected on the Mediterranean.

VALLELUNGA PRATAMENO

Views

It is located in a flat valley, east of the river Platani. The current urban center was born in 1623, thanks to the noble Pietro Marino, who achieved the "licentia populandi". The country kept only the name Vallelunga until 1865. That year it was added Pratameno in honor of the Duke of Pratameno founder of the new town.
